McCain will win easily by November.. I figure Obama will be totally out of the picture by november.. too much crap will surface on him.Mccains leading in the real clear politics polling?
I did see the RCP data, it shows Sen. McCain leading both of the Democratic candidates for the first time this year. RCP averages a number of different polls, so I tend to trust their polling more than other individual polls, although they're not always accurate, like any polling data. I think this shows the potential negative effect the protracted Democratic primary process is having on their chances at the White House. That's all I can figure, I don't think it is an improvement of McCain's positives, as McCain has been largely overshadowed by the Democratic race. The negative attacks between the two Democrats have hurt both of their numbers. If the process continues, and this trend continues, McCain could potentially gain a significant lead, if that begins to show signs of that happening, look at party officials attempting to broker some sort of an end to this sooner rather than later. I'm not sure that they will be able to pull that off, however, and more likely than not this goes all the way to the convention.
As you said, Obama has taken a bit of a hit in the numbers, the Rev. Wright story has hurt him somewhat. Once this cools down, I think you'll see him bounce back a bit, but this could also have some potential lasting damage. These polls go up and down depending on the events of the week.
